Finn, one of our brittanys is here with the answers to your questions

We're delighted you've arrived at this page, and we understand you're seeking information on purchasing and caring for a Brittany from Stonesriver Kennel. We've endeavored to provide comprehensive details, but if something is missing, please let us know. Please allow a minimum of 72 hours for us to respond.

One question everyone asks us....

Why are your Brittanys so cheap?!

My father-in-law is a family man and knows how expensive raising a family can be. Not everyone can afford $2000 for a pet companion for their family so he prices them affordably for you.

May we come and look at your kennel or the parents?
Certainly, we welcome visits strictly by appointment. Kindly email or call us to schedule your visit. Please note that our hours are based on Central Standard Time (CST).

How much does a Brittany puppy cost?
All colors Tri, Orange or Liver $700
Roan color 800$

How much deposit is required?

$150 All colors except Roans $200

How do I get on the waitlist?

Can I pay you via credit card?

We do not accept credit cards directly for payment. However, we do provide Venmo, Zelle, and CashApp as payment options. Please refrain from sending a deposit until you have communicated with us. You will receive the instant deposit details and code through email or text, as this information is not available on our website.

Where do I mail a deposit and what

type of payments do you accept by mail?
Mail check or money order and make payable to:

Stonesriver Kennel

268 Brittany Lane

Manchester, TN 37355

Can I have my deposit back?
Once a deposit is made, it is non-refundable without exceptions. This policy ensures that our puppies have committed owners and assists in covering the initial costs of their care.

We reserve the right to refuse service. If at any point you become rude with us, you will automatically forfeit your deposit and be removed from the wait list.

How will I know when I get to pick out my puppy?
When the puppy reaches two weeks of age, we will reach out to schedule a selection date for when they are three weeks old. Instructions will be provided on the process, and you will make your selection via video chat. You have a 24-hour window to select your puppy. You are allowed to defer your choice up to three times however, if you do, you will be moved to the end of the waitlist. After three deferrals, you will be removed from the waitlist and your deposit will be forfeited. If we do not have a puppy that you want to choose, you may go back to the end of the line on the waitlist for future litters. (Your deposit will carry over until we have a puppy that you want, if we do not produce a puppy to your liking within a year and a half, only then will your deposit be refunded.)

When do I pay the balance?
Less your deposit, the balance of $550 or $600 is payable in cash upon picking up your puppy. We do not accept checks for the final payment if you arrive with a check, you will not be able to take your puppy home. The nearest ATM is located 9-10 miles away in either direction.

Will you fly my puppy to me?
Regarding transportation, we do not transport puppies by air. Flights often face delays and rerouting, and live animal cargo is subject to strict time constraints and temperature limits on planes. Furthermore, puppies in the cargo hold do not receive food, water, or bathroom breaks.

We can meet you at BNA in Nashville or CHA in Chattanooga.
The cost to pick up your puppy, if we meet you then you and your pup fly back home is $150.This fee does include the flight clearance health certificate for your puppy.
If you fly in to collect your puppy at our kennel and plan to return by flight, you will need a flight clearance heath certificate from our veterinarian, which incurs an additional fee of $40.00.

The minimum age for puppies to fly is 8 weeks. All flight-related expenses for your puppy are your responsibility.

Will you deliver or meet me pick-up my puppy?
Yes, should you require your puppy to be delivered to another state, we will include mileage, gas, food, and lodging in the delivery fee. We agree to meet halfway, provided it is less than a 10-hour round trip from our location to yours. Our standard delivery rate begins at $500 and increases with distance.

When do I get to pick up my puppy?

8 weeks of age
We will reach out with a schedule with available pick-up times.

*Pick-up Policy*
You must arrive within 30 minutes of your scheduled time. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you will need to reschedule your pick-up date and pay the daily kennel fee as stated below. Remember to account for the time-zone change when planning your arrival for your puppy we operate on CST. Failure to pick up your puppy on the scheduled date will result in a $35.00 per day kennel holding fee that must be paid prior to pick-up. We are flexible and understand that life happens please inform us 30 days in advance to avoid any fees.

When you come to pick up your Puppy, plan on being here for at least 30-45 minutes.

We offer a tour of our kennel, where you can meet the Dam and Sire, the littermates, and all of our Brittanys. We cover topics such as feeding, filing AKC paperwork, vaccinations, and deworming. Additionally, we discuss the pedigrees of your puppy's Dam and Sire and take the time to answer any questions you may have.
Please be sure to remember the time-zone change when making your plans to arrive for your puppy. Again, we are on CST.

Are tails docked and dew claws removed?
According to the AKC Breed Standard, the tails will be 3-4 inches in length when fully grown. We do not offer the option of not docking the tails. Occasionally, our puppies may be born naturally tailless. Tails/Dew claws are removed the 3rd day after birth. We cannot guarantee that the dew claws will not grow back.

Can I register my puppy with the AKC?

Yes, you will have limited registration so that if you wish to compete in any events your Brittany will be eligible. We do have a spay/neuter contract in our health guarantee that you will sign at pick-up. If you would like full registration for breeding there is an additional fee of $400. You will receive the AKC-required documentation upon pick-up to register your puppy unless previously agreed upon beforehand. Additionally, you will receive a photocopy of your puppy's Dam and Sire's pedigrees, along with a copy of the Sire's DNA profile.

Are the puppies vaccinated?

Yes, the puppies are vaccinated and de-wormed up to 8 weeks. Their second vaccine will need to be scheduled for 10-12 weeks, and the booster/rabies vaccine is administered at 4 months by your veterinarian. They are not fully vaccinated until they receive the 4-month vaccine. For your puppy's safety, you should avoid dog parks, doggie daycares, designated potty areas, and contact with unvaccinated pets. Puppies should be around people to foster their social skills. Tip: Parvo can survive in the soil for up to 10 years. If your puppy's stay exceeds eight weeks, a vaccination/de-wormer fee of $25.00 will be applied if needed. You will be notified in advance if this applies to an extended stay.

Are the puppies microchipped?

No, this decision is ultimately left to the owner. However, we strongly recommend having the puppy microchipped.

Will I receive a vaccination record?
Yes, you will be provided with a health record booklet from Purina containing the necessary information for you to follow up on the second vaccination in the series at your veterinarian's office.

Do I need to bring a collar, leash or blanket to get Mom's scent?

Included in the cost of the puppy we provide a break-away collar, a 5ft training leash, training ball, and a puppy blanket. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own. You will also receive enough Purina for two days feedings.

Do the puppies have a well check visit from the vet?
Yes, each puppy undergoes a comprehensive physical examination by our veterinarian, which includes checks of their eyes, ears, mouth for cleft palate, heart for murmurs, hip and knee rotations, as well as for umbilical and inguinal hernias. This is included in the cost of the puppy, and you will be provided with a photocopy of the vet visit/bill. Should any issues arise, we will inform you immediately.

Do any of the parents have any health issues?

Our breeding stock is free from hereditary or congenital health conditions. Brittanys, akin to humans, require a balanced diet and regular exercise, coupled with proper care, to maintain their health. Without appropriate care, they may develop health issues, including those common in humans during their senior years.

Puppy Training 101
We train the puppies with basic commands such as sit, stay, come, no, and leash training. Puppies are not potty-trained as they do not develop bladder control until around 9 months of age. Since their bladders grow with them, at 8 weeks old, they have very small bladders. We advise taking them outside to relieve themselves as soon as they wake up and every 45 minutes, use the same area each time and a bite of kibble as a reward and you will have success as Brittanys are quick learners. For biting issues, we suggest the jaw pinch technique: press your thumb on the back of their tongue and pinch your forefinger against the underside of their jaw while firmly saying, "NO Bite." The puppies are not accustomed to crates but are used to a comfortable spacious whelping box and a 10x10 outdoor kennel. They are familiar with using a doggie door, doggie bell, and are trained to eliminate on both concrete and grass.

Do the puppies or parents have OFA Certification?
We have not conducted testing on our adult Brittanys to maintain affordable prices. Puppies from OFA-certified Brittanys start at $1500. Additionally, this certification cannot be performed until the puppy reaches the age of 2 years or older.

Do we personally hunt our Brittanys?

We offer a lineage of high-quality hunting stock. Although we currently do not hunt them, Charlie is retired, and both my husband and I work full-time. However, many of our owners do hunt, and you can find their pictures here as well as on our Facebook or Instagram pages.

Can I return my puppy for a refund?
No

We are obligated to remain involved in our Brittany's life, and we require that you surrender the Brittany to us so we can find them a suitable home should you decide you no longer wish to keep the puppy.

What kind of food will my puppies/adult dogs eat?
